Today in the morning we had an early start due to moving camp locations from Harvey to Serpentine. We first made our way into Yarloop and had morning tea with the CWA ladies. And they talked about the Yarloop, which was the biggest fire to happen in WA in written history, which happened in 2016.

We also did another 5km walk today between Waroona to Pinjarra. We also came across a huge herd of cows that were very happy and didn’t stop following us.

We also stayed in Waroona for a bit and had a photo with a large plastic cow, dressed up as a wittenoom miner…. who’s name is moooriel.

Today we took part in the Walk Around Town event in Harvey which is located in the South West region about 150km from Perth.

The walk around town was a short circuit around the town centre where anyone could register and help raise more money for research and awareness for a cure for Mesothelioma.

There was a prize for the most laps around town which was won by Ross Dempsey with a grand total of 19 laps. And there was another prize for most feet on the ground, which was the most people in a team counting each foot. We were part of the team that won this prize, and the most important member being beans the dogs with a total of four paws which got us over the edge!!!

Some famous things Harvey is known for is the Harvey Fresh company, first established in 1986 on a 100 hectare farmland.

Another famous author we also learnt about was a woman named Cecilia May Gibbs, who is published under the name of May Gibbs. She got the inspiration for the Gum nut babies Snugglepot and Cuddlepie while in the area of Harvey.

Harvey was also known for having an internment camp during the second world war. The camp was open from 1940 – 1942. The camp held German and Italian families who were residents of the area at the time. The people running the camps used to actually let them out during the day to work on the farms but then came back and stayed the nights.

Today we completed our first 5km walk on the road with the ADSA Walk Team.

We started in Kulin and finished for lunch at the Albert Facey house located in Wikepin.

The Albert Facey house was built in the 1920’s and was home to himself and his family until the great depression.

He was a World War 1 veteran who wrote a book called “A Fortunate Life” which was based upon his real life experiences.

We had the chance to observe how Albert and his family lived their life in their two bedroom home.

In the afternoon we only got to walk 1. 8km between William’s and Quindanning before being pulled off the road due to men spraying for weeds. Before coming off the road we came across a paddock of sheep that stared at us intensely and then ran away as fast as they could.

We then all made our way in the coach to the Quindanning Hotel where everyone kicked up there feet and had a drink… (non alcoholic for us)!!!

Then we all got back on the coach and made a long trip to our new camp in Harvey!

We were both up early to make everyone’s lunches before they hit the road for a long day of walking.
The walk started at wave rock where we surfed the rock as pirates.
Fun fact we learnt that at one point in time the rock was under water and that is how it got its shape.
As the ADSA Walk Team started the journey west to Kondinin for their delicious luches.
Lily hit the road in one of the support cars to look after the walkers on the road,  while Jaz headed back to the camp to help set up for dinner.
Lily had a pretty relaxed afternoon in the coach and Jaz kicked her feet up at camp, As the ADSA walk team continued on from Kondinin to Kulin
